Three men were arrested Dec. 18 in connection with reported abductions of a woman in Frankfort and a man in New Lenox Township in November, the Frankfort
Police Department and Will County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release that same day.
Justin A. Brown, 20, of 312 W. 34th St. in Steger; Dontavious A. Harvey, 20, of 14341 Drexel Ave. in Dolton; and Terwon Matthews, 20, of 11355 S. Forest Ave. in Chicago, each were charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and armed robbery.
According to police, a warrant was issued Dec. 17 for the arrest of the men, and the Chicago Police Department assisted the U.S. Marshalls Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force with taking them into custody. Brown, Harvey and Matthews are all being held at the Will County Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
On Nov. 16, a woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint at the ATM at the Chase bank in Frankfort. She reported a man approached her with a gun, accessed her accounts through the ATM and then left with her in her vehicle, making several stops to acquire additional money and items.
In a separate incident, a New Lenox man reportedly was abducted at gunpoint in his driveway the morning of Nov. 29 and was found safe in Indiana roughly five hours later.
Police say detectives from Frankfort and Will County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service, worked together to identify the men through crime tips, technology and video surveillance. The evidence reportedly placed the three men at the scene of the stores where the victims reported their financial accounts had been violated, according to the release.
