Two men allegedly stole cash and merchandise from the Speedway gas station at 22305 S. Center Road around 5:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, before fleeing the scene.

Frankfort Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keegan said an officer pulled into the station just as the offenders were leaving in a newer dark gray Dodge Challenger that had bright orange daytime running lights.

The officer pursued the vehicle on Laraway Road onto Interstate 57 but had to terminate the pursuit near Vollmer Road because the vehicle was continuing at a high rate of speed and making evasive maneuvers, which caused the officer to lose sight.

Keegan described the two subjects as male, black and wearing all-black clothing and ski-type masks blocking their faces. Both men were armed with handguns, he said.

No injuries were reported. The case remains under investigation, and Keegan declined to state the amount of cash and merchandise taken from the store at this time.
