A Frankfort Township resident was allegedly injured during a robbery outside his garage the evening of Saturday, Feb. 1.
Will County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer told The Frankfort Station in an email that a male senior citizen spoke with deputies regarding the incident on Feb. 2 at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.
The man said around 10:30 p.m. the previous evening, he returned to his home on Long Beach Drive and parked his vehicle in his detached garage. He said that when he went to the keypad on the outside of the garage to shut the garage door, an unknown person struck him on the back of the head with an unknown object.
The man told police he blacked out for an unknown period of time and discovered money had been stolen from his pants pocket when he regained consciousness. He was unable to provide identifying information about the individual or individuals responsible for the attack, but said he saw a small dark sedan parked across the street from his home when he pulled into his driveway.
Hoffmeyer said the man was treated for the injury to the back of his head and for an additional injury to his forehead he incurred when he fell to the ground, both of which were not thought to be life-threatening.
