You are here
You see one of the world’s greatest sites while traveling abroad. You share a moment with a loved one while hiking in one of this country’s great national parks over the summer. You really indulge during a terribly named but quite enjoyable staycation.
You take a photo and post it to social media. You get some likes and shares, but it is inevitably lost to time in the never-ending churn of social media, save maybe for a trip down memory lane, courtesy of Facebook’s algorithms.
But now you have the chance to add a little more permanence to that memory, as we’re going to put at least one of your photos on the cover of Summer Fun Guide 2019 following this year’s Vacation Photo Contest. And entering is as simple as sharing a post.
Just share your favorite vacation photo post with us on Facebook or Twitter (hashtag it with #VPC2019, if you don’t mind, so it’s easier to track) by 5 p.m. Friday, May 2. If you don’t “do the Facebook,” as my mom says, feel free to email us your photo entries at email@example.com.
Following the deadline, our editorial staff will pick at least one photo to grace the cover of Summer Fun Guide 2019, of course giving you credit for the entry. Entries will be judged based on photo quality, originality, capturing the essence of vacation, emphasis on summer and ability to fit the theme — bonus points to anyone who plays up the “social” aspect of the contest, with photos that show you having fun with your family, friends and significant others.
Again, our deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 2.
Entries also are subject to appear in May in The Frankfort Station and on the websites of all seven of 22nd Century Media’s southwest suburban publications.
Residents of Orland Park, Tinley Park, Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Homer Glen and Lockport are eligible to enter.
