Due to extremely low temperatures in the coming days, schools in area school districts are scheduled to close Wednesday, Jan. 30, and Thursday, Jan. 31.
Among the affected schools are Grand Prairie Elementary School, Chelsea Intermediate School and Hickory Creek Middle School in Frankfort School District 157-C; Arbury Hills School, Indian Trail School, Frankfort Square School, Dr. Julian Rogus School, Hilda Walker School and Summit Hill Junior High School in Summit Hill School District 161; and Lincoln-Way East High School.
After-school activities will be canceled both days, as well as on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at D157-C and D161 schools.
All schools are scheduled to re-open at their normal start time on Friday, Feb. 1.
Village offices to remain open
The Village of Frankfort Administration Building will stay open during regular business hours throughout the week.
The Frankfort Public Library District closes Jan. 29, at 5 p.m. and will re-open on Jan. 31 at noon.
All Frankfort Park District programs and leagues scheduled for Jan. 30-31 are canceled, including programs at the Founders Community Center and area schools.
The Frankfort Square Park District is canceling Chair Yoga, Little Learners, dance and Movement with Music programs on Jan. 30. Preschool and F.A.N. will be closed on both Jan. 30 and Jan. 31. B.A.S will remain open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at no additional charge for participants registered for that day; there is a $44 drop-in fee for those not registered.
