In the hallway of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Frankfort, music from a viola playing Bach’s “Partita for Violin No. 2 in D minor” could be heard drifting inside the church’s sanctuary.

Violist Matthew Lipman brought his gift to Frankfort as part of a benefit concert for the Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. Peter’s Church.

“I was 10 years old when I began playing the viola,” Lipman said. “I grew up listening to classical music. My parents always listened to it.”
