Republican incumbent State Rep. Margo McDermed was given a second term by Illinois voters, defeating Democratic challenger Matthew J. Hunt.
Unofficial results from the Will County Clerk’s Office had McDermed up nearly 7,000 votes with more than 98 percent of the votes tallied.
Cook County voters also gave McDermed the edge, choosing the incumbent by more than 1,000 votes with 18 of 20 precincts reporting.
The results are unofficial pending certification by both the Cook and Will County Clerk’s.
