After starting quarterback Kyle Quinn was injured against Bolingbrook and backup Ty Slager took over under center, Lincoln-Way East leaned on its running game heavily, both in the second half of that game against the Raiders and in the win over Homewood-Flossmoor the following week.

With Slager making his second start against rival Lincoln-Way Central on Friday, Oct. 4, the Griffins’ coaching staff gave him more of a chance to show what he could do with his arm.
