The reality for Lincoln-Way East going into the Class 4A Shepard Regional final is that the eighth-seeded Griffins likely needed top-seeded Marist to be a little bit below its ‘A’ game in order to pull the upset.

That certainly was not the case.

East started strong but could not keep up for long against a hot-shooting Marist team that hit 10 3-pointers on its way to a 78-38 win Friday, Feb. 21, in Palos Heights.
