Payton Bruns has never been more excited about going to school than he was on Jan. 7.
Bruns, a senior at Lincoln-Way East, returned to school that day for the first time since a life-changing hockey injury Sept. 29 that cast into doubt whether he would ever be able to walk the halls at East, or anywhere else, again.
A little more than three months after Bruns broke the C5 and C6 vertebrae in his cervical spine, he is getting back to his normal life.
