The south and southwest suburbs have always been a hotbed for softball talent.

That talent recently helped the Beverly Bandits 16U team win another national championship.

Five local players were among the 14 on the Bandits team, which beat the Texas Bombers-Jones team 5-4 on July 27 at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif. to capture the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) 16U Premier national championship.
